They Are Coming, Waves (*2015)

Sound/video performance for 8 musicians

Length: 20’ Written for Alpentone International Music Festival 2015, Altforf

Performed six times on August 14th, 15th and 16th.

This piece was composed for being executed specifically in the acoustic and spatial conditions

of the Altdorf Sacklager. It explores the relationship between mind, language and the

physical world. The score will have the eight performers execute different tasks including:

playing a written part in one of the five percussion stations, modify one of the five LED lights,

use one of the three computers to modify the projections or the electro-acoustic elements,

perform an action in the room or singing. Projected texts are taken from James Joyce’s

Ulysses, chapter 3.

Dialects (*2015)

For unspecified number of artists and a computer.

Length: variable.

Performed in July 24th in Guayaquil, Ecuador

Workshop/presentation at LAbO#5 - DeSingel Conservatory in Antwerp, Belgium.

A platform for a solo or group instant-composition. Programmed in MaxMSP, Dialects is based

on Cornelius Cardew’s graphic score Treatise. The program works on algorithms that will project

on the wall a random page of the score and it will determine also when to change to the new page.

The program will also use modifier modules. These modules appear superimposed on the

projected score and they can be: videos of dance pieces, pictures and time markings. They are highly

suggestive and their objective is to give some direction to the improvisation. It can be performed

as an installation as a solo piece (only the projection with no performers), as a duet

(the projections with one performer) or with any combination of artists from any discipline.
